To determine the Haugh units, the egg is cracked on a flat glass plate after weighing.
The egg white height gauge is then used to determine the egg white height at a distance of approximately 1 cm from the edge of the yolk.
The formula for calculating the Haugh unit is:
Whereby:
- HU = Haugh unit
- h = determined height of the albumens in millimeters
- w = mass of the egg in grams
The calculation is done automatically in our software.
Alternatively, you can read the data from a table.
System 3.0 basic equipment (Haugh units)
The 3.0 system offers you a cost-effective entry into the acquisition of egg freshness (Haugh units).
In this package we have put together for you all the components you need to record Haugh units with your Windows PC.
The system can be operated with a standard PC with a current operating system (Windows 7/8/10).
The system consists of the following individual components:
- Software 3.0, suitable for Windows systems 7/8/10
- Mini data collector 3.0
- Egg white height gauge
- Laboratory scale Kern 440-43N, 400g max
- Connection cable between laboratory scale and mini data collector 3.0
- Work table, normal size
- Accessory kit, drip tray, plastic spatula, color fan, air bubble template, manual

Compact Haugh Unit Meter (measure haugh units without PC)
The Compact Haugh-Unit-Meter allows you to determine Haugh-Units without the use of a PC. You can print the result on a strip printer or simply read it on the display.
The system consists of the following individual components:
